Lady Mavs Pick Up Two More Wins

The North Country Lady Mavericks basketball team picked up a couple of wins this past weekend, extending their regular season record to 11-0.

"We are playing aggressive defense, creating a lot of turnovers, and pushing the tempo, but also playing disciplined," Lady Mavericks Head Coach Amber Erickson said. "Our half court offenses are getting better every week and we are going to continue to break things down and focus on executing and, doing little things right everyday and every game."

The Lady Mavericks kicked off their week with a 56-14 win over the Lustre Lady Lions on Friday, January 13, in Saco.

North Country was led by Teagan Erickson who had 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Kora LaBrie had 11 points, two assists, and two steals. Mattea McColly had eight points and three assists. Kendall Scheffelmear had four points and eight rebounds.

The team had a total of 17 offensive rebounds, 14 assists, 15 steals, and only six turnovers.

The Lady Mavericks also defeated the Frazer Bearcubs 77-11 on Saturday, January 14, in Frazer.

Paige Wasson led the charge with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. T. Erickson had 15 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. M. McColly had 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists. BaiLee McColly had eight points, six rebounds, and four steals.

The North Country Mavericks and Lady Mavericks will take on the Dodson Coyotes and Lady Coyotes in Dodson on Friday, January 20, in Dodson, The event starts with a JV Boys game at 5 p.m.(four-four minute quarters), then the girls varsity game at 6 p.m., and lastly, the boys varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

North Country will then go to Hinsdale to face the Circle Wildcats on Saturday, January 21. The night will serve as Hinsdale's Senior Night. The event starts at 1:30 p.m.
