One Nation, Under God

Dodson News for Wednesday, January 4, 2023

December 28. Christmas has come and gone for another year. Very cold and then it started raining, so got slick all over. I went to Havre and the Messiah Lutheran Church had a nice Christmas Eve Service led by Marilyn Henry.

It rained on Monday and some on Tuesday. Bill brought me home Tuesday and when he returned to Havre it rained hard from the river bridge to Chinook.

Different ones reported rain in other places from Missoula and on East and North.

Temps made it to the high 30’s.

The trains were not running, so Velma Broadhead was stuck in Seattle for a few days.

Steve Henry said besides raining in Seattle, it rained all the way to Missoula on the way home.

Polly Solberg was able to go to Townsend to be with Nathan and family for Christmas and for a few days to visit. On her way home she visited with Sid and Merriame Solberg.

Terri Cole and Rhea Simonson were up for the Christmas dinner served at the center.

There were cars and trucks in the ditch when we came home from Havre-hope everyone was rescued and didn’t have to wait for help.

When women are young, they have hourglass figures. When they get older, they look more like Big Ben.

My kids are all remembering years ago when the buses couldn’t go home from storms that came up-so there were several extra kids crowded in, some maybe sleeping on the floors. Always room for one more. God was watching and blessed us many times over.

Keelan, Kristi, Keith, and Kortni Wilson visited gramma Dora Henry on their way to Glasgow for hockey.

The kids’ coach was with them. He is from Holland, and he played pro as a goalie for 6 years and was not allowed to go home because of Covid, so is coaching the young team. Keith had his collarbone broke in a game a couple of weeks ago, so he is out for the season. Too bad- they really enjoy the game.

Thanks again to Jerry and Bonnie for clearing in front of the driveways and garages after they plow the street. And thanks to everyone who has been so good to me, shoveling my walk and porch. The one day the drift was 4 ft. high on my porch, doesn’t usually get that deep, really had to force my door to get out. And I always worry about running out of food.

According to the paper, we have gained nine minutes since the first day of winter on the twenty-first. Should be able to notice it by the end of January.

Birthday greetings to Polly Solberg and all having birthdays. Belated birthdays wish to Terri Cole who added another year on Dec. 26. Congratulations to Jerry and Bonnie Lankford on their wedding anniversary and hope you have many more.

They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world. Someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

Have a good week and keep hoping for the weather to keep warming up.

Happiness and blessings as we start a New Year.
