One Nation, Under God

VFW Club: Boot Scooting Proof

You are only limited by your own boundary and mind. As the evening became chilly and the friendship and laughter blended, friends gathered Saturday night at the VFW Club for a New Year's Eve dance and celebration.

One of those dancing and celebrating was Noel Emond who deals daily with the walking (and waltzing) support of his armed walker and his oxygen tanks. It may slow him down and you will probably not see him break dancing, but he has been known to "brake" while dancing to avoid collisions with other couples.

Sometimes he dances with someone and yet there are times he whirls around the floor solo ... he just loves to dance. One might guess his favorite dance of choice is line dancing, which can be a challenge on the smaller dance floors.

Jam session music was provided Saturday evening by Jay Southwick on the fiddle and harmony, Bill Abrahamson playing guitar, Warren Taylor on guitar and vocal, Warren Abrahamson on guitar, and Riley Abrahamson on the drums. Cole Monroe mesmerized the crowd with his dancing, both solo and with Miss Adda ("Lalay") Felizario. Both the crowd and Adda were surprised when Cole completely flipped Adda at the end of a jitterbug they had danced. He also led the crowd in singing 'happy birthday" to Bonnie Wiederrick, who is a New Year's Day baby (who has celebrated several anniversaries of the event), and sang several songs with Warren.

A lunch was provided by friends of the VFW. The monthly jam sessions are held the first Sunday of the month, unless there is a holiday or conflict. Music can be enjoyed from 1 p.m. til 6 p.m.
