One Nation, Under God
Snowball 2022 is but a memory tucked next to tired boutonnieres and corsages, and what a memory it was. The evening was Friday, December 23, and the "Grand March" was held at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Students from Malta and their dates or friends from neighboring towns, and home-schooled students showed up in numbers with sparkle and dazzle. Gowns that were runway worthy were stunning beneath the spotlight and for just one moment in time, each couple or group had the eyes of the audience on them.
No event this breathtaking is without its royalty, and this was no exception. When the glitz had all paraded across the stage, Royalty was announced and the selections were – Queen Chloe Van Nus and King Draven Lageson.
Following the coronation of the royalty a dance was held in the cafeteria. Highlights of the dance were the parent dances and memories in the making – a "first" Snowball for some...both students and parents.
For the seniors, this was yet another of the 'last' for them. For about seven families, this dance was the final dance of their kids' high school career. Some parents, even the tough-on-the-outside ones, it was one step closer to being an empty-nest home, and was met with mixed emotions.
For all those that attended, the night was flashing strobe lights and (loud) music. Chris Pippen D.J. provided the music which everyone enjoyed and "old" songs were very popular and kept the hearts and feet dancing. While there were fingernails left in the wake of the evening, no pumpkin arrived to whisk off the dancers which were all enchanted for the evening.
