Fearless hunter, Jack Stenswick, was shown with his prized 4x4 buck he bagged along the Milk River while traveling with his chauffeur, David Rummel. The look on his face said he meant business!

Seniors Gain Grant

The Malta Senior Citizen Center has received a grant from NorthWestern Energy.

Greet n’ Meet

There was a Greet & Retreat Party at Three Sisters. Come meet the new owner, Darla Niebur, & say goodbye to retiring Candee.

Kaluza-Becker Wed

Brian Kaluza and Eric Becker were married in Beulah, ND. Brian is the son of Bob & Sue Kaluza of Malta.

Barreling Over Them

Malta tromped Red Lodge 38-0 to head into the elite final four. The two teams had met last year in a quarterfinal battle with Malta coming away with a lopsided 49-0 win.

Sporting a New Look

Independence Bank of Malta has donated its former building to Phillips County Motor Sports for an office. Greg Kirkwood was shown with a look of appreciation on his face.

Welcomes the Ninth Decade

Ned Mangis would greet friends & family as he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Season Ends for Seniors

With a loss to Wibaux, two Saco-Hinsdale Lady Panthers played their final game. Seniors, Chelsea Mavencamp and Hannah Jones would hang up their jerseys for the last time.

Behavior Not Malta Style

School Athletic Director, Glenn Flatt, has written a letter to the editor in regard to the recent verbal hazing by the students of our school to visiting teams and coaches. He asked for a display of positive actions and stated there is no room for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Politics Getting Deep

Vi Beyer voiced her opinion in a letter to the editor and after researching, compared “dung” bugs, and politicians and she was fed up with “dung” bugs!

Practice Parenthood Before It’s Real!

A baby was donated to the Saco Consumer Science program through the “Baby Think It Over” series. It gave students a chance to be a parent for 24 hours. Pictured were Marie Mavencamp, Elsie Capdeville, Barb Whitaker, Shelly Romo, and Esther Brosseau.

Local Man a Target!

Craig Stiles was the target as an 18-year-old Pennsylvania man shot at him during an attempted robbery. At a point in time during a chase in the encounter, Stiles said he heard a “whoosh” and “I bee-lined it to home.”

Coyotes Defeat Havre Sophs

Dodson defeated Havre Sophomores 44-33; led by Lindsey Kirkaldie with 12 points. Other scorers were: Jenn Reynolds, Stacie Kline, Francine KillEagle, Jessica Wilson, Kelly Cole, and Nichole Wasson.

Fell For a Frau’lein

Forty years ago, a beautiful, young Frau’lein married a charming American. Best wishes were extended to Gi and Tom Miller.

Jenny Sue Stickley and Bob Jacobson were principal actors in the production of “Plaza Suite” which would be presented for three nights. Directing the play are Ric Floren and DeeDee Jennings, student director.

Cowboy Life in Print

Floyd Hardin has published his book, “Campfires and Cowchips” and was portraying the authenticity of early homesteaders and cattlemen.

Green Beret Home

The Lauren Wombold and Korsbeck families gathered at the home of Anna Korsbeck. Johnny Korsbeck, US Army, was home on leave from overseas.

Senator Swede

B. J. “Swede” Goodheart was given the vote and the nod to represent the District as the Senator. He was re-elected and would serve with Francis Bardanouve of Harlem.

Marriage licenses were issued to Ralph Waters and Jessie Miller, of Malta; and to Gary Anderson and Patricia Hammond of Whitewater.

Boys Ordered and Delivered

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Dunbar of Whitewater, and a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Louie Plouffe of Malta.

Staying Strong

The Malta Mustangs pulled off a 26-7 victory over the Plentywood Wildcats. Jim Spartz’s 60-yard run for a touchdown after a game of fumbles and recoveries, sealed up the game. Ole Veseth, T. Simanton, and Losleben were among those receiving high praise.

Pay the Man!

Traffic violations were written by Patrolman Jerry Johnson for the following: William Marks, Saco, four in the front seat of the cab, $10; and Oscar Oftedhal, MN, careless driving, $10.

Afternoon Ceremony

Ethel Barrett and Robert Lawson were married on Sunday. Attendants were Irma Marquardt and Paul Jacobson.

Dining & Dancing Firemen

Malta firemen entertained their wives and girlfriends for a social. About 50 spent the evening playing cards and visiting.

New Look Coming

The new license plates are here. They are black with white letters and only one plate will be issued. The plate is to be fastened to the rear of the vehicle.

Some Empty Freezers

Deer hunters were returning with varied luck. Frank Zuber and Frank Hornoff had poor luck; Donald Drummond and Keith Watson, ditto; Jess Piper is credited with bringing down a 350-pound buck. Russell and Jake Wiederrick got theirs in the Larb Hills. Ike Blatter, Bill Stine, and Bill Cotter accounted for one each. Einar Mebust and Henry Hanson had no luck.

Supreme Court Hears Case

A verdict of guilty to a charge of grand larceny returned against John Berkebile in district court was upheld by the state supreme court. Berkebile was charged with stealing a stack of hay valued at $100.

Was the Wheat Worth It...?

Leroy Fox was jailed for the alleged theft of a load of wheat.

George Partridge, A. Davidson, Carl Hanson, and Ole Veseth had succeeded in obtaining cars and had shipped their sheep.

Not a Happy Work Environment…

The Enterprise had been having a rough time of it for the past two months. Editors came and went almost weekly. A Mr. Murray from Missouri lasted two weeks. C. H. Stevens was called in. He cause such a furor that all the democratic businessmen pulled their ads out of the paper. A Mr. Perrett succeeded in getting the paper out on November 7. However, he had no local news at all except the statement that election returns had been impossible to secure. Stevens had again taken over. In an editorial statement, he said “You may not like our style-we don’t care whether you do or not.”
