One Nation, Under God
We attended the rescheduled Frazer race on Tuesday, October 4, and the Malta Invitational on Saturday, October 8.
It was a full week for the girls. I ended up giving them Wednesday and Friday off for some extra rest days. They were feeling pretty heavy by Thursday. Both races had beautiful weather and great competition for the girls. There weren't as many runners as usual, but when you have Scobey and Glasgow at the meets it doesn't really matter.
In Frazer, Samantha Wisher finished in 4th place with a time of 21:19, Shelbi LaBrie in 6th place with a time of 21:37, and Ava Hanley in 38th place with a time of 29:21.
At the Malta Invitational, Shelbi Labrie finished in 2nd place with a time of 20:02, Samantha Wisher in 6th place with a time of 21:34, and Ava Hanley in 29th place with a time of 28:58.
Shelbi and Sammi sure like to bounce off of each other in practice and at meets. You would think that there might be some resentment there between the two of them having such close competition between each other, but I think they actually appreciate each other for it. You don't find too many high school students that appreciate that drive that they get from each other.
Kendra Cummings is still struggling with injuries but she's bound and determined to be ready to give it her all at the state meet. She's been such a good sport this year and has supported her team every step of the way.
We hit up two of the hardest courses for the season in the same week. By the end of Saturday, the girls were pretty happy with how they did overall. They are starting to run much more consistently and I think the Harlem Invitational will be a great way to end the regular season. It's a great course to get a PR and give them some extra confidence going into the state meet.
