Malta XC at Frazer Invitational

The Frazer Cross Country Meet had been previously scheduled for September 22, but had been postponed because of some much needed rain to the area and the results of that lovely rain event caused a very muddy area for running.

But on Tuesday, October 4, the Malta Cross Country team traveled on a very beautiful fall day over to the area called Clark's Hill, just a few miles southwest of Frazer overlooking the beautiful Missouri River. Today's running course was dry and provided just the right surface for some fast paced races.

The winner of the high school girl's 3.1 mile race was Tanae Baker of Glasgow who ran the very hilly race with a time of 19:37. She was followed by her teammate Emily See and third place runner was Mya Green of Scobey.

M-ette runners for the race placed as follows: Megan Morser placed 35th with a time of 28:57, which was a good time for her on this course and having come off sickness and a nagging knee problem. Izzie Hallenberg placed 46th with a time of 32:36, running her last Frazer meet of her high school running career. She was pleased with her time because it was similar to her freshman finish. Kinlie Cummings ran in with a 54th place finish and a time of 37:21. She was pleased with the fact that she finished and had run and pushed herself over the tough course. She's been working hard to get back her conditioning after missing some time, but fortunately she has a few weeks yet to get her strength up before the state meet. Kirsta Meisdalen and Olivia Negus were unable to run due to a school conflict.

The boy's race was a fast and furious race with a pace set by Reed Larsen of Glasgow who raced over the course and finished in first with a time of 16:47. He was followed by two other Glasgow runners for the top spots, Kyler Holinde and Lane Thompson.

Mustang runner Kael Young was the only Malta runner to start and finish on this fast hilly track. He looked very strong and pushed himself along and ran in with a time of 23:02, placing 32nd and bested his time for a new PR! He had a fantastic sprint at the end and we were all very happy with his performance on this challenging running course. Kash Stiles was unable to run due to sickness.

Overall, Coach Lisa and I were pleased with the Malta runners and their performances. It was a very good workout out there in Missouri River Country with all the hills. It will help them along as they get ready for the challenging Malta Athletic Club Invitational Cross Country Meet, Saturday October 8.
