One Nation, Under God

Loring News for Wednesday, October 5, 2022

Welcome October and thank you for the nice bit of rain! The cottonwood tree in my yard finally decided it really was fall and the leaves started turning a beautiful lemon yellow and falling on the lawn! I guess the grasshoppers don’t care for cottonwood leaves.

A group of ladies and several children met at Whitney Blunt’s for a nail party with Rana Jesson on Friday. It was a rousing party!

Pete and Carol Lumsden, Gene and Cindy Compton, and Alan and Connie Wasson enjoyed a ride on the Charlie Russell Choo-Choo! Carol said they even had a train robbery and other old west activities! On Sunday the group drove into Slippery Ann to see the elk, but it was too cloudy, and not many elk were out yet.

Congratulations to the Lady Mavericks junior high girls on their championship in volleyball!

The Kenny Clark family was in the cheer section for Mylee.

The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum has closed for the season. I worked a couple of days this last week.

Now that it is dark earlier the planets that are visible in the evening are Saturn which is high in the sky and a golden color. Jupiter rises in the east as the sun sets and is visible all night as the brightest object. And then Mars rises about 10 and is really red and brighter than most stars. Mercury is visible in the morning before sunup for a while in October. You could see Jupiter and

Mars in the early morning sky also.

Have a calm October and spread the kindness!
