One Nation, Under God
A passion, a devotion, a talent, a life, a love...these are ways Schizoid Johnny's life with music can be described.
His life with music began at age 15, and yet today his zeal and ardor continue strong. Born in California, Johnny said he fell in love with Montana; the people, hunting, beauty, and solitude all added to reasons why he has chosen Zortman, Montana, as his home. (*he denies being in the witness protection program, which I did ask of him, due to his extensive biography and credentials – my curiosity peaked and the best way to find out is to ask!).
Meet John Steinhardt, musician, composer, entertainer and man of many talents. John has traveled extensively in fulfillment of his fervor for music, across the nation, from small quaint places, to large venues and to places like Canada and Tokyo. He is a one-man band with a knowledge of airlines and weight limits as his tour have also taken him to Mexico, Hawaii, Germany, Egypt, Greenland, Japan, Okinawa, Korea, and Tibet. How many others do you know who have performed on a ship while cruising the Nile?
John has been honored by the Department of Defense for three Overseas Tours, and was awarded four Certificates of Esteem. He performed with Jimmy Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner on both the East German Border and the DMZ at Panmunjom, North Korea.
He chose to become at a time a rarity, a one-man band, using a drum machine and pre-recorded music as he did in his Christian Act. He started working on more instruments including keyboards, trombone, trumpet, harmonica, and an array of guitar, banjo, and a drum set. He expanded his performances to include a cast of characters with costumes – masks and comedy.
You can check out his work and skills on youtube.com and also catch a glimpse of an insight to his 56 recordings and 33 shows.
Schizoid Johnny will be performing Friday, Oct. 14th, at 8 in the evening to 11 p.m. at the VFW Club here in Malta. Johnny is sure you will be entertained. Mark your calendars and bring a friend, you'll be glad you did.
