One Nation, Under God

Phillips County Insurance Remodel Is A Community Venture

Out with the old, in with the new. With the remodel complete, Phillips County Insurance took the opportunity to showcase the finished product. Started after the first of the year, and completed in May, the office took on a new look.

The touch of local artists and businesses is evident throughout the business. Owners, Aimee Salveson and Jake Stuart, went to Darrell Carney as the main contractor. His crew and individuals left a stately impression on the building space that was originally built in 1914. Both lumber yards provided materials, two electrical contractors, a plumbing store, the carpet store were tapped for purchases made to turn the look into what it is today. Artists, craftsman and photography skills of Bryan Shores, Todd Klassy and Tiffany (Salveson) Newton have their endorsements displayed on the walls.

Jake stated, "We had talked about it for a while, and we had the crew and decided to do it." He said he had been warned of some previous owners and remodeling; and it was pretty well true. Jake said he found out the heads-up notice he had been given, "The building is old, but it's sturdy; and a lot of different businesses have been in here, who knows what you will find under these walls!" Now, with three subfloors, the place is on pretty solid foundation.

It was all hands on deck for the PCI Community BBQ held on Thursday, September 8, as well, local businesses and individuals provided the lunch of burgers, buns, potato salad, baked beans, meatballs, and cookies with the "PCI" logo on them.

Jake stated he and Aimee want to thank the public and customers for their patience during the five months. About 170 people enjoyed visiting and viewing; board member, Vince Schmoeckel stopped in to check out the renovation.

All the chaos, inconvenience and transmogrification taken into consideration...when the dust all settles, it was well worth it.
