Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center Is Here to Help You

Who Am I?

My name is Jesse. I love music and watching movies and spending time with friends and family. In the summer I like to swim, wakeboard, spend time with my kids, and skateboard.

I wanted to work with Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center to be a behavioral health certified peer support specialist so I can try to help others. My intent with my work is to make sure others do not feel as though they must remain in the shadow of their addiction.

I remember how difficult it was to connect with other healthier individuals and how scared I was to fall back into the old system of habits. Now, I am well into my own recovery story and three-plus years clean and sober. I am excited to link arms with others who are interested in recovery or some support with their sobriety as well as meet and work with people that have similar life experiences.

Why is Peer Support Successful?

Peer support workers are people who have been successful in the recovery process and who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support workers help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can extend treatment beyond the treatment setting into everyday environments where people work and live. This is especially important because while people reach recovery through various pathways (support groups, medication, counseling, or faith communities, to name a few), they sustain and maintain recovery in their communities and homes just as I have.

How do I connect with you?

If anyone would like to connect with me, please contact EMCMHC and ask about Peer Support Services at 406-228-9349. I would love to support you on your journey toward recovery.
