One Nation, Under God

I am finally able to put my feet up after work!

So, we did a thing the other day….

I’m not talking about marriage. I am talking about something that has been in my life just as long as I have been married. My old couch set.

The other day, Susan and I replaced our old couch/love seat set.

Honestly, it took me a long time to like that couch. It was not comfortable at first. It did not recline, so the naps were often painful, and sitting on it too long encouraged me to get up and take a lap around the house.

I disliked that couch for years, but when it came down to it, that couch was always there when we needed a spot to binge-watch TV or take a break from the summer heat or the brutal winter cold.

I have held and snuggled two newborn sons on that couch. Susan and I have had many deep and meaningful conversations on that bad boy.

I have eaten many meals and countless bowls of popcorn on that couch.

That couch had outlived other furniture around the house and has earned its place in my heart.

But now. It seems that we have upgraded!

I was initially skeptical, but as soon as I reclined, I almost fell asleep and then proceeded to doze off during our first family movie on our new couch from Art’s Furniture in Malta.

While this couch allows me to kick my feet up after a hard day’s work, the old sofa had an ottoman, which was not comfortable. I guess you can say that things are looking up.

In other news, Mark Foss has moved to Georgia to be with his family. He did a great job for the PCN and will be missed dearly.

I could tell right away that he loved newspaper and I hope that somehow he is able to keep writing.

His shoes will be hard to fill, but I will say that if you love our small community and believe that you can write, please stop by and grab an application.

Our aim at the Phillips County News is to highlight our community and though we do live in a political world, we let FOX and CNN handle the national noise pollution.

This town has been great to me over the last ten years and I am hoping to let the world know how great this county is!

Lastly, the other day, PJ beat me in Ladders at the Fauth Family Reunion. I couldn’t believe it. They grow up fast. It’s scary to think that one day he will lift heavier weights than me! Most importantly, I hope that he continues to apply himself in school. He has been doing great and I am super proud of him!
