She’s new to Malta and now she’s the manager at Family Matters. Avery Sorenson was hired to fill a vacancy in the management of the publicly owned clothing store by its board of directors.
She and her husband, Leif moved to Malta in June from Glendive so he could accept a position as a new lineman with Big Flat Electric Cooperative. The public will get a chance to meet Sorenson, who started work last week, at a “meet and greet” Thursday, July 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will also feature a summer line style show with models from the store.
Fire impacts residents, livestock operators
Not only have the fires in southern Montana consumed homes, but they have also consumed almost 325,000 acres of pasture and hay land. Some producers have lost everything.
The Phillips County Extension Office has received calls from areas affected by recent fires in the southern part of the state.
“The calls were looking for pasture for displaced livestock and for available hay or straw,” according to Extension Agent Marko Manoukian.
The Northern Ag Network reported early estimates that at least 4,400 head of livestock have been displaced. Obviously, the need will be bigger than the supply but if you have pasture, hay, or straw, contact the Extension Office to be placed on a list. Your contact information will be shared with officials that have contacted the Extension Office.

The George Hoynes, Duane Comptons, George Knudsens, and Swede Falgren were in Billings to attend the installation of former Malta resident Kent Bell, now of Glasgow, as the The Most Worshipped Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Montana.
Some of life’s question to ponder
Have you logged on to “Bullwiz,” a nightly electronic newsletter, yet (On the Internet)
It featured the Stephen Wright School of School of Questionable Philosophy
If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?
Would a fly without wings be a walk?
If a funeral procession is at night, do people drive with their headlights off?
If a stealth bomber crashes in a forest, will it make a sound? When it rains do sheep shrink? Is there an expiration date on sour cream? Why do kamikaze pilots wear helmets? How do you know when it’s time to tune your bagpipes? Is it true that cannibals don’t eat clowns because, they taste funny?
Why do they call it a TV set, when you only have one? What was the best thing before sliced bread? And what is sure to be the favorite with Montanans,
If it is tourist season, can we shoot them!

It was safe to say that he was well out of the way of legal hands.
