One Nation, Under God
In a fairly straightforward meeting last Tuesday night, the city council got the first report on the City Pool by new manager Shay Garfield and assistant manager Izzy Siegle.
They informed the council that over the first three weeks of the pool being open, they have made $8,614.77. A majority of which is from swim lessons and sign-ups. And another $1,020.72 from concessions.
They have five sponsored days scheduled so far and there has been one pool party with another one on the schedule.
The pool has been closed 3 days for weather so far this year.
Mayor Demarais thanked the girls for doing such a wonderful job with everything at the pool.
"When I'm not getting calls about any problems there at the pool, you are handling everything the right way," said Demarais.
In new business, the council voted to grant Youth Dynamics a group pool pass and to appoint Lee Pekovitch as City Attorney.
They passed Resolution 1314, authorizing the transfer of funds to the capital fire truck fund, as is done every year.
The council passed Resolution 1315, Affirming active participation in the Bear Paw Economic Development District.
They voted to sponsor the 4th of July Fireworks and sign a notice of award to Lakeside Excavation, Inc. for the Trafton Lift Station.
Public Works Director, Jim Truelove informed the council that the city crew had performed two water digs since the last meeting. One was just a meter pit install and the other was a curb stop at Albertsons. Truelove told the council that there was a continuous leak under the floor inside Albertsons, but that had no bearing on the city.
Truelove told the council that the city crew had patched the roads as much as could be right now. He has ordered more that should be in at the end of the week. The patching material is getting harder to find and the price is increasing.
PWD Truelove said the city-wide clean-up has gone well, it will end on June 30.
The blade will be out working on roads and alleyways, and the street sweeper will be back out after the 4th of July weekend.
The next Malta City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at 5:00 p.m.
