PCCF Announces Grant Awards to Local Projects

The Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) is excited to announce grant awards to four local projects totally over $4500.

-$1500 has been awarded in support of the Re-Imagining Rural effort and community mural project that will be located on the east wall of the Villa Theatre building on Central Ave. This project, spearheaded by Kari Miller and the SaintLouis family (new owners of the Villa) is a local collaboration to inspire creativity, demonstrate community pride and creating a shared space for connecting & showcasing the essence of Phillips County in the large mural.

-$1500 in support of the exterior improvements at the Malta Senior Center. This project includes updating the entrance door on 1st Street West – making the center more accessible, energy efficient and improving their curb appeal.

-$1500 to assist Hometown Hero street banner project initiated by Eric and Delsi Witmer that honors area veterans while creating a sense of community pride. PCCF Grant monies will help cover costs for double sided banners that recognizes local veterans that have been killed in action. To date, five banners honoring 65 veterans have been ordered in addition to individually sponsored banners. Organizers are working with the City of Malta and hope to have the display up by July 4th. -$232 will help install a new "OPEN" flag to attract visitors to the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum. The new feather flag is a simple effort to help US Highway 2 travelers more aware of local tourism assets and hours of operation. GPDM noted that travelers to Montana spend at least $125 per person daily and having great local museums as attractions encourage visitors to stop, stay and while and spend those dollars locally on fuel, food and lodging.

PCCF is an affiliate of the Montana Community Foundation and continues to work to build a permanent charitable endowment and community savings account for current projects and future generations. Local grants are made bi-annually from interest income generated.
