Malta Swim Team Gets Going With Two Early Season Meets

The Malta Swim Team has had two early meets this season to get things going. On June 4 and 5, the team was in Harlem for the Harlem Invitational. On June 11 and 12, the team traveled to Chinook for that Invitational Meet.

Malta head coach Darrow Messerly said, “Things are going good for the early season. The kids are doing very well to start off the year, they’re working their butts off and improving every day.”

In the female 200IM (ages 11-12), Taya Wilke took 5th in Harlem and 2nd in Chinook.

Female 50 Free (9-10), Brooke Negus was 6th in Harlem and 5th in Chinook. Jayne Young took 7th in Harlem and 10th in Chinook. Skye Love took 11th and Ellie Norville took 14th in Chinook.

Male 50 Free (11-12), Silas Young took 3rd in both meets.

Female 50 Free (11-12), Taya Wilke got 7th in Harlem and 5th in Chinook, while Miracle Love, Chevelle Stiles, and Rosie Day took 6th, 8th, and 11th respectively at the Chinook meet.

Male 50 Free (13-14), Kael Young got 2nd in Harlem and took 1st place in Chinook.

Female 50 Breast (11-12), Taya Wilke got 5th in Harlem.

Female 100 Breast (13-14), Danika Wilke took 4th in Harlem and 5th place in Chinook.

Male 100 Free (11-12), Silas Young got 1st place in Harlem and 3rd place in Chinook.

Male 100 Free (13-14), Kael Young took 2nd in Harlem and 1st place in Chinook.

Female 50 Back (9-10), Jayne Young got 2nd in Harlem and 8th in Chinook. Skye Love got 3rd place in Chinook and Elie Norville took 11th.

Female 100 Back (13-14), Danika Wilke got 6th in Harlem.

Female 50 Fly (9-10), Brooke Negus took 6th in Chinook.

Male 50 Fly (13-14), Kael Young took 2nd place in both meets.

Female 200 Free (13-14), Danika Wilke took 1st place at the Harlem meet.

Male 50 Free (15-19), Reese Brown took 4th place at the Chinook meet.

Male 50 Breast (11-12), Silas Young took 1st place in Chinook.

Male 100 Breast (15-19), Reese Brown took 4th place in Chinook.

Female 100 Free (9-10), Brooke Negus got 7th, Skye Love 8th, Jayne Young 9th, and Ellie Norville 11th, all at the Chinook meet.

Female 100 Free (11-12), Miracle Love got 5th place, Chevelle Stiles 8th place, and Rosie Day 9th place at the Chinook meet.

Male 100 Free (15-19), Reese Brown got 4th place in Chinook.

Female 50 Back (11-12), Taya Wilke got 3rd place and Miracle Love 4th place at the Chinook meet.

At the Chinook meet, the 8-year-old and under group got to get their feet wet for the first time in the season.

Female 25 Free, Sokoya Love got 7th and Aubrie Norville got 16th.

Female 50 Free, Sokoya Love got 4th place and Aubrie Norville got 13th.

Female 25 back, Sokoya Love got 3rd place and Aubrie Norville took 9th place.

At the Harlem meet, two mixed relays were featured. A mixed 200 Free Relay and a Mixed 200 Medley Relay, with Malta taking 1st place in both of them.

The swim team competed in Glendive this past weekend and has a meet in Sidney scheduled for Jun 25 and 26.

They also have a fundraiser Swim-a-thon planned for June 29 at the Malta City Pool. Past swim team members are encouraged to join in and if you are interested in pledging money or helping out, contact Dara Wilke.

The Malta Swim Team will host a meet in Malta on July 9 and 10. Go out and cheer the team on!
