One Nation, Under God
The Malta City Pool opened last week with a bit of a delay due to cold and rainy weather. But things got going on Thursday, June 9, with the first day of open swimming!
There is a new manager at the pool this year, but she is not a new face around the Malta pool. Shay Garfield takes the reigns this year. She is a 2017 graduate of Malta and a longtime lifeguard and member of the Malta Swim Team, coaching it for two years.
"I'm really excited to be back at the pool," said Garfield. "We've got a good group of lifeguards this year, five returning and four new ones that just finished up their training. There are so many great things going on with sponsored days, swimming lessons starting on the 13th, and the concessions are back. Lots of activities for everyone."
Along with Garfield, the pool has a new assistant manager as well. Izzy Siegle is a graduate of Glendive High School, and also has an extensive background in swim team. She just finished up her freshman year at MSUB where she participated on the triathlon team, the cross-country team, and the track team.
"We are ready for a fun summer," said Skylie Lefdahl. One of the lifeguards returning for her second year. "I am so ready for the sun to be out and for the pool to be full."
