Barb Dunbar has been a registered nurse her whole career. She has now been hired by the PCHC to be the manager of a Medicare-run program for chronic care patients.
"I am really excited about this program," said Dunbar. "I'm glad that the PCHC has decided to invest in this."
In her role, she will act as the liaison between the chronic care patients enrolled in the program and their providers. Giving the patients another person to talk to and get questions answered.
"I can be the voice for them in between their visits to their provider. If a medication isn't working right, or if they have a question for their provider, they can call me and I can get the answer that they need without having to wait for an appointment to see their provider," said Dunbar.
The hospital gets a list of everyone in the county that is eligible for the program. Dunbar will call and ask if they would be interested in it, or they can call and talk to her about the program. All those that are turning 65/66 and others that qualify early for Medicare are eligible.
"This is another great service that the PCHC has decided to offer to Phillips County residents," Dunbar said. "I hope everyone that needs it, takes advantage of it."
