One Nation, Under God
Thanks to all who gave me birthday parties, gifts, cards, and phone calls. I appreciate all.
Easter Sunday, the Whitewater Lutheran Church had a brunch followed by church with many guests. These included Barb and Ben Math (formerly of Whitewater), and Julie Nagy, pianist of the day.
We had snow on Easter, but it has been an easy winter compared to the 1940’s and the 50’s.
“Welcome back to Dixie Stordahl, Loring’s correspondent. Dixie has been in Arizona. She now works at the museum, in Malta.
Late congratulations to Jan and Greg Kirkwood of Malta on their anniversary. Is it 55 years? That’s a long time!
Jeanie Green took the Amtrak train to Oregon. She met Pat (Ivanovitch) Donich at Whitefish and they went to Oregon to visit Pat’s family.
The Amtrak train is a real convenience/necessity for Phillips County. I love the train!
In the 1940’s and 50’s, Whitewater had our own little train. We called it the “Galloping Goose” The train went from Glasgow through Hinsdale, Saco and Whitewater, Turner and Hogeland, then it returned the next day, a round trip.
Then the train hauled food, groceries, mail, hardware, and even cattle for shipping. Does anyone know what year the train quit? The depot is still in Whitewater, now owned by Pat Dunbar. The depot just got a new roof!
Bye!
Helen A.
