Dodson man arrested after endangering girlfriend

On Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 0054 hours, Phillips County Dispatch received a call reporting a domestic disturbance in which the victim was attacked by her boyfriend who was wielding a knife and threatening to kill her at a residence in Dodson, MT. Phillips County deputies Matthews, and Has The Eagle responded and were advised the suspect had barricaded himself in a Winnebago on the property.

Sheriff Jerry Lytle was notified and contacted Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer, requesting the joint Valley County Sheriff's Office/Glasgow Police Department Special Response Team (SRT).

While waiting for the SRT to arrive, Phillips County Deputies also enlisted the aide of Fort Belknap Tribal Police officers to secure the scene and area. Multiple attempts were made to make contact with the suspect but were unsuccessful. Five members of the SRT (Officer Nolan, Officer Edwards, Officer Dick, Deputy Tihlarik, and Deputy Vaughan) arrived with an armored vehicle.

Contact and negotiations were just getting established when the suspect, Mikell Clenton Brogan, gave up and was taken into custody without further incident. Brogan complained of chest pains upon being arrested and was transported by ambulance, which was staged nearby, to the Phillips County Hospital. Brogan was arrested on suspicion of assault with a weapon and partner or family member assault.
