The Malta Mustangs started the 2022 Track and Field Season on a strong note last Friday, April 1, in Glasgow with a second-place finish at the Glasgow Invitational.

"We have more boys this year and that is exciting," Malta Head Coach Kaitlyn Smith said. "We have more mid-distance and distance runners, so I am happy to add them to the team."

In Glasgow, Salsbery and Pitman set new bests in shot put. Salsbery won the event with a throw of 49-10. Pitman took second with a throw of 45-8.50. The throws placed Salsbery and Pitman on top of the stat rankings.

Pitman won discus with a throw of 118-2, and is now ranked fifth in the state.

"It was the first track meet of the season and they still have a lot more to go, so I am excited to see what they can do," Coach Smith said.
