One Nation, Under God

Dimas to be featured on Discovery Channel

Dear Editor,

Last spring I, Lowell Young, was watching Operation Outdoor Freedom on the Discovery Channel. It is a great show that honors our Veterans. At the end of the show it said that if you wanted to nominate someone, to send an email with their name and story. I nominated Darin Dimas from Poplar, MT. Darin served a tour in Afghanistan with the Montana National Guard. He also has two sons that were Army Rangers.

Three weeks after I submitted his name I received a call from the producers of Operation Outdoor Freedom and they wanted to tell Darin’s story. In August they flew to Montana and spent two days filming near Darin’s home. I was invited to see it all happen. This show will air on the Discovery Channel on the morning of March 13th.

Darin was a UPS driver in our corner of Northeast Montana for many years, the last 15 he was our driver at Hi-Line Sports. We were always impressed with Darin and his family’s devotion to faith, family and friends. There were over 1000 nominees and only 10 were picked. Truly an honor for Darin and his family.

You won’t want to miss this. Being a humble man, Darin is a bit overwhelmed by the attention, but it is so deserving. The filming was outstanding and I think you will be impressed. The next time you see Darin and his family thank them for their service to our country.

Lowell Young
