Malta City Council Meets, Gives Updates on Parks and Rec. Activities

It was a fairly quiet meeting for the city council at their last meeting on Tuesday, February 22.

Director of Public Works Jim Truelove updated the council on dirt work being done at the new Trafton Lift Station location.

Truelove told the council, “It’s called a preload. This means you have to dig so much out, then bring in a bunch of pit run. In this case, about 1,200 yards worth. On top of that went five feet of additional fill. The first settlement reading will be the first week of March.”

Truelove then asked the council for input on what to do about the cardboard issue.

The council discussed it and decided to have Truelove contact a few other townships and see what they are doing for their cardboard.

Truelove will report what he finds out at the next council meeting.

Truelove told the council that the problems that were had at the Robinson Lift Station have been taken care of. A controller has been replaced and everything seems to be running smoothly.

Parks and Rec. Director Sally Wright updated the council on their programs.

Past activities included Malta Dance (Cheer) that ended on February 18. 21 kids attended and they were coached by Andrea Lien. The program was for 2nd-4th graders. The group performed four times, once at City Hall, two times at varsity basketball games, and one time at the District Tournament in Glasgow.

Youth Dodgeball ended Monday, February 7. There were 60 kids signed up.

Winter Tiny Tots ended on Tuesday, February 22. There were 24 kids signed up for that.

Winter Boot Camp also ended that day with four people signed up.
