Malta High School held its first Career Day on Wednesday, January 12.
Students from Malta, Dodson, and Whitewater attended and viewed presentations from over 40 businesses and occupations.
The presenters gave the students the pros and cons of the profession, the necessary education or training needed, employment potential, and answered any questions that the students may have.
Phillips County EMS Coordinator Rhei Tharp said, "We had quite a few students that seemed really interested. They asked a lot of good questions."

The event was coordinated by MHS Counselor Kate Webb with help from Randi Kelly, Jessie Cebulski, and Julie Snellman who volunteered their time for preparation for the day and helped the event run smoothly.
"After visiting with the students, staff, and schools, I think it went well," said Malta Counselor Kate Webb. "We had some great sessions going on that involved hands-on experience and demonstrations of what the presenters do day to day at their jobs, which I think the students really enjoyed. I think we also did a pretty good job of bringing in a variety of careers to give students a lot of choices and opportunities to find something in their line of interest. We had many students making connections with businesses and sparking some future career passions."
Webb said that they are sending out feedback forms to all staff, students, and schools. Once the feedback is gathered, the school will meet with the Chamber to discuss the feedback and make a plan for the next Career Day.
"We do know for sure this is something that we will do again, but as far as when and how often will be left up to discussion so that we can be respectful to our presenters time and still meet the needs of our students and their career planning journeys," said Webb.
Refreshments for the presenters were donated by the Malta Area Chamber of Commerce and Westside Food Court.
