Demarais: Player of Year

A former Malta Mustang brought some pride to Phillips County when he was named the 2011 Rawlings-NAIA National Football Player of the Year on Dec. 16. Chance Demarais accepted the honor at a banquet before the NAIA championship game in Rome, GA.

Demarais, a junior, ran for 1,748 yards on 312 attempts for a 134.5 yard average per game as a member of the Carroll College Fighting Saints football team. Demarais was the fourth Carroll player to earn the honor since it was initiated in 1997.
