One Nation, Under God
The Malta M-ettes ended the 2021 portion of this year's basketball campaign with a dominant win over Glasgow on Wednesday, December 22, in Glasgow.
The team is now in the middle of Christmas Break, and like other teams around the state, Malta is practicing.
"One thing we hope to improve is our health," Coach Hammond said. "If you listen, (the coughing) is just constant. We are having a tough winter with that. We need to continue working on taking care of the ball better, some of our defensive rotations, especially in the zone, are things we are looking to improve on."
The M-ettes next action is scheduled to take place in Rocky Boy, on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 6 p.m. After that game, they are scheduled to host Roundup on Saturday, January 8, at 3:30 p.m.
In Malta's win over Glasgow, the score was 46-19.
"We did a really good job defensively, in our man-to-man defense," Coach Hammond said. "We were able to match up with them, especially in the post and the wing."
He said that Glasgow's mode of operations includes working the ball from the wing to the post and that the M-ettes fared well against that tactic.
The M-ettes were led by junior Allison Kunze, who nearly scored more points than the whole Glasgow team. Kunze had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two blocks and two steals. She was 7-of-7 from the floor.
Addy Anderson had eight points and five steals. Justine Lamb had six points, five rebounds, and two steals. Kylie Nelson had four points, five assists, and three steals. Maddie Willamson had four points and two steals.
Lauren Tuss, Aubri Werk, Kennedy Koss, and Elly Anderson each had two points.
Malta forced 22 turnovers and scored 15 points off of those turnovers. Malta also scored 15 second-chance points. The team outscored Glasgow 12-3 in the first quarter, 11-3, in the second quarter, 11-6 in the third quarter, and 12-7 in the fourth.
