Lady Coyotes fall in home opener to Thunderbirds

The Lady Coyotes basketball team lost their home opener to the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds last Friday at the Coyote Den. The score was 63-21.

The Lady Coyotes were led by Imagin Fox who had 10 points. Kataya KillEagle had five points, Jean Jackson had four points and Jazlyn KillEagle had four points.

Despite the loss, Dodson Head Coach Clayton KillEagle felt that his team entered the game with a strong effort in the opening minutes.

"Our discipline and defense was about where I would like it," Coach KillEagle said. "Our girls got a little winded in the second quarter and Hays took advantage creating open shots which they rarely missed."

The Thunderbirds jumped up 13-5 after the first quarter, but then had a 24-10 run in the second quarter. Dodson would be held to six points in the second half.

"Our shooting percentage was not great as we were able to create some of our own shots as well," Coach KillEagle said. "We went 4-for-23 from beyond the arch. Impressed with how our young squad came out against an experienced older Thunderbird team. We just need to get over that hump and find the fight within us when we are being challenged. Everything else is there."
