M-ettes prepare for three game week
The Malta M-ettes posted a 3-0 win over the Roundup Panthers last Saturday, October 1, in Malta.
The PCN caught up with senior captains Skylie Lefdahl and Kaylee Bishop after the win.
Both were asked what was key in their victory. Lefdahl credited the win to the teams' aggressive approach to the net.
"Our hits were on, once we got the momentum going," Bishop said.
Bishop was asked how only one game benefitted the team last week.
"It was nice to focus on things that we have needed to work on earlier in the season, but we didn't have time because we had game after game," Bishop said. "So it was nice to have a week where we could just focus and work out the little kinks that needed it."
Lefdahl was asked how the week of fine-tuning translated in their game against Roundup.
"Our serve-receive was a lot better," Lefdahl said. "We have had bigger games defensively as far as our blocks go, but I wouldn't say that our defense was bad today."
The M-ettes will have a more strenuous week, this week as they are set to face three teams. On Tuesday, the M-ettes were scheduled to take on the Harlem Wildcats in Malta at 4:30 p.m. The team will then host the Cut Bank Wolves on Friday, October 8, at 7 p.m. The game against Cut Bank will also serve as Little M-ette Day. The team's last game of the week will be an away game against the Wolf Point Wolves on Saturday, October 9, at 1 p.m.
Bishop was asked how the team plan on attacking the three-game week.
"Lots of rest," Bishop said. "We are going to have to play hard, then go home and go to sleep early every night. It's going to be a tiring week, but I like a week full of games the best."
In Malta's win over Roundup, the scores were 25-16, 25-11, and 25-18.
The M-ettes were led by Junior Allison Kunze who had nine of Malta's 29 kills, nine of 41 digs, and five of the team's 19 aces. Rylee Hines had 13 of Malta's 25 assists, and two of Malta's three blocks.
