Oh wow! The wind really kicked up on Saturday and actually ripped up a few shingles on my roof! So rude! But on the positive side, none of my trees broke off and smashed into my vehicle!

Got to count blessings of all sorts!

I have been working at the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum quite a lot this last month. I love to visit with the people who come in and answer any questions they might have! This week I was happily surprised to see Jeremy Pearson and his family stop in. He was a student of mine when he was in kindergarten-2nd grade!

Saturday Paula Morrison asked me to go down to Loring with her to watch the neighbor boys ride their hoverboards! I didn’t realize that Kage and Kyson could ride those things even on gravel and grass! But Kreed had a little car that he terrorized us with by doing wheelies! We had a picnic and the kids helped me get my groceries into the house! We just don’t get together often enough!

Gale Simonson was hostess to the Loring Woman’s Club on Wednesday. The topic for discussion was the Loring Dance which is on October 2 at the Loring Hall. A special guest was Dorothy Lynn Blunt. She did not raise her voice.

Another special surprise for me. On Sunday the Blunt kids walked down the highway ditches picking up garbage and asked their dad if maybe Dixie had some garbage. Boy did I ever load them up! Thank you for being such great citizens!

Can you believe the new space travel of regular civilians traveling 367 miles above the earth for three days! My dad always said that the things we read in those comic books would come true! He was right!

Thanks for reading my column! I am forever thankful for your comments on the street!

Carol Lumsden spent a few days in Billings with Jonnae Slade and the children. Then Jonnae followed her up here for the weekend to get some snuggle time with Dorothy Lynn!

A scientific experiment proved that a mouse can squeeze through a very tiny hole, but we found out that if the door is open they don’t have to squeeze!

The students from Loring who are going to Whitewater school, and are participating in sports are doing very well! Myles Clark is in volleyball. I know she had games on Thursday and Friday!

A hummingbird came into the feeder again this weekend! It was here for a couple of days! I was so happy that I didn’t take the feeder down earlier! And the sharp-tailed grouse came into our trees this week, maybe over 30! And I haven’t put out any seeds either!

The sky has been clear at night making it easy to spot the planets! Venus is low in the west in the evening and Jupiter and Saturn are more in the south as it gets dark. The International Space Station is easy to spot also!

My brother Scott and nephew Ross of Scottsdale Ariz., spent a few days visiting Rod and I! Ross hiked cross country to the farm and back a couple of times. He saw lots of animals, some domestic but most wild! We did shoot a few gophers! I’m surprised how many are still out! Carol and Pete Lumsden helped Cort Salveson celebrate his birthday on Saturday! They brought a team of horses home to pull the wagon next Saturday for the 10k race. Something fun for the kids whose parents are racing. They practiced on Sunday by taking a wagon ride to the Blunts!

The Loring community sends sympathy to the Donna Schaffer family. Donna passed away a few weeks ago in Grand Forks. She taught for many years at the Loring Hutterite Colony School.

I guess it’s true! Fall is on the way or has arrived! My lawn is covered in golden cottonwood leaves!

Until next week, be safe and surprise someone with kindness!
