New Shelter built at Bjornberg Bridge

Just in time for the Saco-Hinsdale Community Picnic on Sunday, a dedicated FWP crew, along with several local community members, completed the new shelter building at Bjornberg Bridge Fishing Access Site (FAS) north of Saco and Hinsdale.

Fishing access site manager Dave Fuller and maintenance foreman BJ Kemp lead the local Region 6 effort, along with help from civil engineer specialist Kevin McDonnell and project manager Joey Renenger from Design and Construction out of Helena.

In addition, local community members John Sunford, Glenn Fisher, Terry Korman, and Jim Bowman assisted as needed and assembled several new picnic tables.

“I can’t thank BJ, Kevin, and Joey enough for all their help and patience. Additionally, the local crowd (John, Glenn, Terry, and Jim) was a huge help,” said Fuller.

The new shelter is 24 ft X 36 ft and will hold several picnic tables. This project took quite a while to complete, due to the availability of lumber and many other projects going on in the region.

“We started this project last fall, and It’s great to have it finished,” added Fuller. “Many folks from the area use this FAS for family and friend gatherings, and we hope this new shelter will make those get-togethers that much more enjoyable."
