One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, September 1, 2021

“Get well wishes” to Diane Engel, Sue Olson, and Dianne Simanton, and all who are sick.

Big Congratulations to the Whitewater High School on getting the Scholastic Achievement Award from Northwest Energy. This is for high-grade points, also for music and sports achievements. What an honor for a small school.

Also, Congratulations to Superintendent Cummings and staff.

Whitewater School started last week. It used to begin the day after Labor Day in September. Good Luck to all students.

Jeanie Green and her grandson went to Alaska to fish! She reports, “We caught lots of fish, including halibut. We had a good time.”

Has anyone ever eaten fish called “smelts”? We used to get them at Brands Store in Whitewater. They were little, about 98% bone and so salty.

Note: If anyone has any news, please call me at 674-5576.

Taylors grandchildren from Virginia were here to visit. They especially liked the Taylors cute little dogs.

A hello to KayDel Soennichsen Stiles and family. Their children and foster children and I visited at the fair. Stiles used to live here in Whitewater.

Well, Whitewater had 2 rains, totaling about 2 inches, wonderful!

We have had smoky, hazy air, due to the fires in Hays and Zortman. The rain helped clear the air and settle the dust. It even helped brown grass get green again.

It sounds like most of the fires are out, we hope so.

Take Care

Helen A.
