One Nation, Under God

Levi Blom to open P.C Fair Concert

Levi Blom is a native of Butte, Montana. He grew up riding horses and playing hockey.

"I was always one to be outdoors four-wheeling, mud bogging, or pretty much anything outside. I love to hunt, fish, and hang out with my pups and horses in my free time," said Blom.

Blom picked up the guitar the year his best friend passed away.

"My mother thought I needed a positive place to put my energy and boy was she right," said Blom. "When my hockey career ended, which is what I thought my future entailed, is when I really dove into my music. I locked myself in my bedroom and started learning all I could since I couldn't play hockey. I'm not one to sit still, so when my body needed to recover, I had to do something with my mind. So I started writing music. Looking back, it was the biggest blessing in disguise. Music is what I needed in my life and I thank God every day for it."

When asked about the music that he listens to and that influenced him, Blom said, "My favorite song ever is Drive by Alan Jackson. I grew up on the older generation of country music like George Strait and Merle Haggard, so I would say they were most influential for me. For nowadays country music, I love Hardy's music. He brings a little heavy metal into redneck country and that's never really been done before."

The band that backs up Blom on stage is made up of Russell Nelson – Lead Guitar/Vocals, Nick Haines – Rhythm Guitar/Vocals, Taylor McCarl – Bass Guitar, Ryan Piazzola – Drums, and Brian Dubois as the Sound Engineer.

Blom has a six-song EP that was released in August of 2020. This October, the band is taking a couple of weeks off to take a trip to Nashville to record some new music.

"We've got some really cool songs in the works," said Blom. "Songs I think small-town kids from Montana, like myself will be able to relate to. Which is really what it's all about!"

When asked what he thought about stepping on stage for the Phillips County Fair, Blom said, "We were in Malta not too long ago, and man what a blast! The people are great. It really gives you that small-town America feel that everyone appreciates. So, when given the opportunity to come back and play for the people of Malta again, you bet we jumped right on it, and we can't wait to be there again!"

Levi Blom, along with fellow opening act Chisholm Christensen, and headliner Reckless Kelly, will be on stage at the Phillips County Fair on Friday, August 6. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. and tickets are on sale at phillipscountyfair.com.
