One Nation, Under God
This years' concert at the Phillips County Fair will be opened by Chisholm Christensen.
Christensen is a '09 graduate of Hinsdale, where his family has deep roots. They have been on the same homestead there since 1909.
After high school, he attended MSU in Bozeman and graduated from there with an Ag degree.
Leaving Bozeman, he moved for a short time to Loveland, Colorado. Staying there for less than a year, he moved back to Hinsdale to work on the family ranch and buy a small place of his own as well.
"All through high school, I enjoyed writing short stories and poetry," Christensen said. "I learned guitar to put music to the words. I like to tell a story with my music. I don't like those songs that just repeat the same thing over and over."
Christensen said he likes the 90's version of country music. Saying he thinks it's closer to the true sound of country versus the country music of today.
After writing through his high school years, he took a break from it while in college. After moving back to Hinsdale, he started back up again.
In 2020, he had a set of songs he really liked and took the next step of recording them. He went to Superior, MT, to a place called Custer's Last Studio.
"I went there just planning to have me and my guitar on the record," Christensen said. "But with COVID hitting, the producer knew of a few musicians that were out of work. He called a few in, they listened to what I had, and put some stuff together."
In early 2021, his 13 song first album came out called 'The Prisoner' with plans for a second album in the works to start sometime in September.
"I don't have a full band. It's just me and my guitar," Christensen said.
So come out to the concert on Friday, August 6, at the Phillips County Fair and give one of the Hi-Line's own singer/songwriter, Chisholm Christensen, a little PC love!
