One Nation, Under God
Grades one through five spent the afternoon of Thursday, May 27, burning off some of the energy they had stored up over the winter.
They had perfect weather for it, as the rain of the previous two days had cleared away and a nice warm day with a little breeze took its place.
The kids had an outdoor lunch, followed by a day of track and field events. The events included; the 100-meter dash, 50-meter dash, 100-meter relay race, hurdles, long jump, and softball throw.
Each class had its own color t-shirt. Kindergarten in green, first grade black, second grade red, third grade blue, fourth grade was grey, and fifth grade was in white. The classes moved from event to event every 25 minutes.
Soon to be retired 5th-grade teacher, Barb Buechler said, "I'm so happy that we could do this, this year. The weather is perfect for it."
Principal Clark added, "The kids needed a day like this. They've had to deal with a lot the last couple of years."
There were no awards or prizes handed out for the winners, just bragging rights over the friends they were competing against. All of the kids had popsicles the next day during the activities of the last day of school to celebrate the track and field day.
