Malta Golfers Get Good Experience at the Class B State Meet

The Class B State Golf Meet was held on May 17-19, in Shepherd.

"I'm super proud of our kids," Malta Head Coach Kate Webb said. "They did such a great job. We had a lot of new kids out and some returning but with our gap year, last year, it was awesome to see kids come back, love what they are doing, and put a lot into it this year."

Both the boys and girls golf teams had a great send off to the state meet at the high school Monday morning, May 17. The teams were introduced by Coach Webb. She also introduced her assistant coach, Gordon Webb. The teams were cheered on with a Go Big Blue! Go Putt Win! Go Big Blue! Followed by the school fight song.

Monday the teams had a practice round. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, the golfers played 18 holes each.

Team scores for the boys are as follows; Columbus 682, Missoula Loyola 690, Conrad 696, Baker 703, Glasgow 729, Anaconda 732, Eureka 750, Jefferson 752, Red Lodge 761, Forsyth 762, Malta 819, Cut Bank 836.

The Class B individual medalist was Konner Flint from Baker, with a 152. Second and third were Zeke Boos of Loyola with a 153 and Jarek Shepherd of Conrad with a 159.

Malta's top golfer was Kaden Bishop with a 180. He was followed by Connor Clausen with a 207, Jon Siewing 215, Ashton Weston 217, and Hunter Stolem 234.

The girls Class B team scores are as follows;

Columbus 791, Big Timber 830, Shelby 836, Shepherd 852, Colstrip 868, Three Forks 887, Townsend 893, Manhattan 911, Glasgow 934, Bigfork 946, Malta 1053.

The Class B State Champion is Emma Woods of Fairfield who shot a 154. She was followed by Celi Chapman from Jefferson 154, and Kyla Bohne of Eureka 174, in second and third.

Malta's top golfer was Sydney Gibbs who shot a 213. She was followed by Kennedy Koss 232, Lavida Dalby 254, and Aubri Werk 354.
