One Nation, Under God

Letter to the Editor

It's time to recognize heroes within the Republican Party

To the Editor:

It is about time we recognized the true heroes of the Republican Party. They are not the dopey louts who rampaged through our nation’s capital and the moral cowards who still cover for them. They are not the ranting demagogues exploiting the emotions of the resentful. They were the unsung people not seeking attention, but doing their jobs: from poll workers to police officers. They were Republican state legislators and governors who did not bend to pressure to overturn the elections in their state. They were Republican judges who did not allow mere allegations unsupported by credible evidence to deny votes that happened. They were a Vice President who proved loyal to the Constitution and the rule of law above any man. They were Republican congressional representatives and senators who did not fear to hold their own president accountable and dared to stand on their conscience instead of follow the majority of their party. They did not win. But they showed more bravery than the majority in their party who did.

It is those Republicans who can save the soul of the party from being lost to a band of fascists. My father was a lifelong Republican who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the sacrifices that generation made to defeat fascism, I’m glad he was not alive to see his party dishonored by America’s Mussolini.

PCHC CEO Talks about an upcoming program

by Andrew Riggin

Phillips County Hospital CEO

Did you hear the exciting news? Phillips County Hospital is transitioning its Home Health program to a Visiting Nurse Program through the Family Health Clinic Starting June 28th, 2021.

Why the change?

The change is a necessary change to help grow. We can provide the same quality customer service while operating in a less restrictive setting.

What is s Visiting Nurse Visit? It again is the same service as before with home health just a different name. You have to meet the same criteria for either service.

That criteria starts with needing reasonable and necessary skilled nursing services for the diagnosis and treatment of a unique medical condition that requires the skills of a nurse to provide safe and effective care. Provider orders for skilled nursing services based on your condition and the duration that the illness or injury will last. These orders are provided by the providers at the PC Family Health Clinic.

You will receive the same great care with the same staff that was in the former Home Health Program. The only difference is that a PC Family Health Clinic Provider will set up your plan of care with you while in the program and you will call the clinic at 406-654-1800 to set up an initial visit, follow-up visit, or changes to your plan of care.
