One Nation, Under God

Phillips County Sheriff's Report for Wednesday, May 19, 2021

A Portion of April 25, 2021 through April 30, 2021.

FYI:

If you are planning on using Trafton Park shelters for an event in the future, please contact the Malta City Office, 654-1251, to reserve the shelters, get the key and pay for the electricity. The Phillips Co Sheriff’s Office will no longer be handling this. Thank you.

Please remember to file a new burn permit for the 2021 year. If you plan on doing any burning in 2021, please file one BEFORE you start to burn. These permits are good for all of 2021 and you only have to file one a year, not every time you burn. All 2020 permits will no longer be valid after December 31, 2020. Call PCSO, 406-654-2350, to let Dispatch know of your controlled burn before you start, as a courtesy. Thank you!

If you are calling a cell phone number from Montana, local or long distance, and cannot get through, try using 406. Companies are starting to require the 406 on cell phones to make calls.

Concealed Weapon Permits:

New and renewal applications for Concealed Weapon Permits may be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office anytime. Once approved, you will be contacted to come in on Wednesday between 9 AM and noon for fingerprints and photographs.

These phone calls, and many others, are scams. If it seems suspicious DO NOT GIVE any information to the caller. Ask for a call back phone number and call them back to see if it is who they are claiming to be.

If you don’t recognize the phone number on the caller ID, don’t answer it. If it is a person who truly needed to contact you, they will leave a message.

The IRS and the Federal Justice System do not contact people via telephone.

Always remember the key things regarding scams:

1.If you didn't enter, you didn't win

2.If you have to pay to receive your prize, you didn’t win.

If you have a lawsuit or other legal issues pending you will get notification via certified mail or served to you by an official, whether it is a law enforcement officer or a civil process server

If you feel you have been a victim of a scam, please follow the link below to the Office of Consumer Protection. https://dojmt.gov/consumer/consumer-complaints/ or call the Montana State Legislature Fraud Hotline: 1-800-222-4446.
