One Nation, Under God

Matilda Hofer

A golden heart has quit beating as we say well done, good and faithful servant, you have enriched our lives and now we place you in the arms of Jesus.

Our Dear Lord took a loving wife, a special sister, and a dear Aunt, too many Nieces and Nephews, with her Johnny right by her side.

She succumbed to her Heavenly Home on March 23, 2021, at the age of 76, to rest and be safe in the arms of Jesus and all her loved ones.

Matilda moved to Turner, MT in 1959 after living some of her younger years at Grass Range, MT. The youngest of 13 siblings, she was the first to be born at Grass Range Col. She married her love, Johnny Hofer, on November 8, 1981. And kept her home there till she moved to Malta, MT. in the same year, with Johnny by her side.

Our Aunt was a hardworking, old-fashioned, Christian lady, that was vibrant, strong, kind, selfless, and a soft-hearted woman. She had a strong love for our Savior and for everyone whose life she touched. Her strong point was cooking up a gourmet meal for everyone always and at any time of the day or night

She will be lovingly missed and sadly remembered by her husband Johnny, her only living sister Rebecca (Darius) Walter. And by her large family of nieces and nephews. But most especially by her nephew Tommy Walter, who she helped her sister Rebecca raise for all of her healthy years. We expect to be hearing "Who will make me Nugelan (dumplings) now." From her Tommy

Matilda was from a large family of 7 brothers and 5 sisters.

Still amongst us is her sister Rebecca (Darius) Walter of Turner, MT. sister-in-law Annie (Paul), Elizabeth (Jacob) of Turner MT. And her only living Aunt Katie (Darius) Hofer of Loring MT. Ben (Katie) Stahl of Grass Range MT.

Predeceased by her mother and father George & Rebecca & brothers, George, John (Annie), Susanna, Samuel (Sara), Jacob (Elizabeth), Paul (Annie), Peter (Katrina), Dora (Michael), twins Darius (Spike) & Maria Annie (Pete).

She will always be the Matriarch and the bridge that connects us all. We will look for her in the faces of the many people she loved and places we never lose-our memories.

The family would like to say a heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support with prayers, cards, good, gifts, and flowers from family and friends.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 10:00 am at the East Malta Col. Burial followed at the East Malta Col. Cemetery.
