PC Museum to open with new exhibits April 1

Phillips County Museum curator, Lori Taylor, said the museum is ready to be open on April 1, 2021.

The hours for this year are 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Taylor and the rest of the staff are looking forward to seeing everyone come out and check out the new exhibits that they have put together.

New exhibits this year include Music through the Ages. It consists of the different sources of music through the years, from 1885 to 1980's. It includes some cylinder music players, different style radios, and a really familiar "boom box" from the 80's that this writer for the PCN may or may not have had in their youth.

There is a new display of wedding dresses from early frontier days.

There are also some new, smaller exhibits as well. One of them being of wood carvings done by prisoners from the POW camp in Trafton Park. And another of some trinkets and artifacts that were brought back by soldiers from the wars.

One exhibit that was done late last year is of purses and other women's items through the ages.

The museum staff has also worked hard, rearranging a few of the displays that they already had making things more visible and have better flow. One example of this is the medical room. Another would be in the Loring area. They have added a little section with an emphasis on the wheat growing of the area, with additions of a 1909 world competition win for Montana and a 1912 state fair ribbon.

The staff has also made changes to an area of the gift shop, making it more kid friendly. With kids' books and more stuffed animals of dinosaurs and wildlife found in and around the area.

The museum staff looks forward to seeing everyone and answering any questions that you may have.
