CREE CROSSING WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA HAYING PROJECT - DECISION NOTICE
FWP has issued a Decision Notice (DN) for its proposed haying management actions on approximately 40-60 acres of the roughly 129 acres of dense nesting cover (DNC) on the Cree Crossing Wildlife Management Area.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) distributed a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) detailing proposed management actions to manage DNC fields on Cree Crossing Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Area 8 on February 23, 2021. The purpose of this proposed management action is to help remove old, decadent vegetation that has built up over time, help promote forb growth, and improve overall vegetative stand composition and vigor.
Upon completion of the public involvement process and by inclusion of information in the decision notice, FWP updated the EA and it will serve as the final document pertaining to this action. The decision notice document also includes public comment, along with FWP’s responses.
A copy of the Decision Notice can be found at https://fwp.mt.gov/binaries/content/assets/fwp/commissionagendas/2021/april-1-2021/wildlife/5b_cree-crossing-hay-lease-decision-notice.pdf
