One Nation, Under God
The weather has continued to be very cold, but finally, the last two days are showing some relief. Today was warm and windy, it took a lot of snow off, and tonight at 10:00 PM it is 41 degrees above. Unbelievable!
The 3C District Basketball Tournament was this week and the results were good and bad. The girls lost out in their games, sorry girls, we know you played hard. The boys lost some but beat Nashua and Lustre Christian to earn third place and will go play in the Eastern C Divisional Tournament. Good luck boys!
Edmond Mortenson was flown to Billings with medical problems which were corrected, then Evan and Twila Jones picked him up and took him home. We wish him a speedy recovery back to good health.
Dora Henry was saddened this week when calls informed her on Monday morning that one of her granddaughters, Jessica Woods, 36 years old, had passed away in the night suddenly, and unexpectedly, supposedly of undiagnosed Hashimoto's Disease. Services will be held this week in Billings. She leaves two teenagers and two smaller daughters, many cousins, aunts and uncles, one brother, James, her father, Paul Lautenschlager, stepmother Christine, her mother, Cheryl Ames, stepfather Todd, her husband, and many friends that she worked with. She will be greatly missed by all her family. I want to thank all who sent me cards and called, the entire family appreciates you all.
On to other issues----- Seventy-six years ago last Friday, a mighty armada of ships, one of the largest for a single offensive lay surrounding the tiny Isle of Iwo Jima, while Marines stormed the beaches trying to get onto the Isle and away from the beach. Unfortunately, at the bottom end, there is an extinct Volcano that was heavily fortified so the Japanese had the advantage of firing down on the beaches and casualties were heavy. Many brave Marines died on Iwo Jima. There were 24 Medals of Honor awarded on Iwo Jima, many posthumously. James Henry was one of the Marines who served there, but was lucky enough to return home and was always proud to have served with those heroes who did not.
Congratulations to all having a birthday this week and all who are celebrating an anniversary. Hope they are happy ones.
The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. As you travel through life, leave your mark, not a stain.
Have a wonderful week and may it all be warmer weather.
