The North Country Lady Mavericks are currently 13-0 after defeating the Dodson Lady Coyotes last Thursday, the Glasgow Lady Scotties last Friday, and the Scobey Lady Spartans last Saturday.
The Dodson Lady Coyotes would go on to pick up losses to Scobey last Friday and Medicine Lake last Saturday.
In North Country’s win over Dodson last Thursday, the score was 64-23. The Lady Mavs were led by Jaycee Erickson who had 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kia Wasson had nine points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals. Teagan Erickson had eight points, 12 rebounds, and two assists.
“Tonight we didn’t hit shots as well in our half-court offense, but our defense got us some good transition and baskets and was able to get us stops,” Lady Mavericks Head Coach Amber Erickson said.
The Lady Mavericks were able to get quality minutes from their reserves in their victory.
“Being able to bring in Zandora, Kendall, Ciena, and Mattea was a really good opportunity to give other kids rest on a three game weekend, as well as give them varsity minutes,” Coach Erickson said.
Coach Erickson believes that having three-game weekends prepares her team for the postseason, which begins next week.
“Every team is in the same boat,” Coach Erickson said. “It’s going to be about who can grind it out, play mentally tough and through a little fatigue.”
