Is school site trade possibility?
Alderman thinks it could be explored
City government and the
Malta School District should explore a possible trade for new school site, feels one city alderman.
Alderman Dave Broadbrooks has informally floated a trial balloon in front of his fellow alderman concerning the possibility of trading vacant lots in the Legg Addition of Malta to the school district as a site for the new high school-junior high.
Malta's high school-junior high was destroyed by a Dec. 24 fire.
In return for the trade. the city could receive the burned out school's original site in the center of the community along with the undamaged Music Box which could be used as a new city hall.
"Maybe there is a possibility of a trade."Broadbrooks told the PCN.
