Lady Mavs run through a pair of 3C teams

The Lady Mavericks cruised through a pair of 3C teams last weekend, winning both games by over 40 points.

"It was another great weekend for the Lady Mavericks picking up two more wins" Lady Mavericks Head Coach Amber Erickson said. "The girls jumped out to a good lead in the first quarter due to their defensive pressure.  They did a great job communicating on both ends of the floor and making the extra pass for the best shot. As a team, we chalked up 23 assists, 17 steals and forced 34 turnovers."

The Lady Mavericks defeated the Lustre Lady Lions 60-13 on Friday, January 15.

North Country was led by Kia Wasson and Kaitlyn McColly who both had 12 points. Wasson had four rebounds and three assists. McColly had three assists and five steals. Jaycee Erickson had 11 points, seven assists, and three steals. Kelsee Cummings had eight points and four rebounds.

On Saturday, January 16, the Lady Mavs defeated Frazer by 69-23.

Coach Erickson said "The girls came out ready to play and jumped out to a big lead after quarter one. I sat my upperclassmen for a majority of this game after the first quarter and worked my younger kids in throughout the rest of the game.  We played all 12 suited players.  As a team we had 22 assists, 22 steals and forced 27 turnovers."

Kora LaBrie and Kia Wasson led the game with 15 points and three assists each. Teagan Erickson had 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists, which is the first double-double of the season. Jaycee Erickson had 11 points and three assists.

Coach Erickson said "The girls are developing great team chemistry, playing very unselfishly, and having a lot of fun so far. We go to Dodson on Friday and host Circle in Saco on Saturday. Circle will be another good test for us as they have a couple of solid, big girls that we will need to key on defensively."
