January School Board Meeting

Malta Public Schools held their monthly school board meeting on Wednesday, January 13.

During the meeting, the board approved minutes from their regular meeting on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, and their two special meetings held on Thursday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 23.

Malta Elementary Principal Corey Clark, Malta High School, and Malta Middle School Principal Shawn Bleth, Transportation Director Pat Sargent, and Student Council members Kaylee Bishop and Jade Darrington each gave their Administrative Reports.

During the Student Council Report, Bishop and Darrington shared the Caps for Coins fundraiser, a district-wide event that raised $3,360.53 for the Raymond family.

The Student Council also said that they are trying to find a way to get students to put their phones down and interact more with each other.

The School Board then addressed action items. The first two action items, 2020-2021 contracts and MHSA Annual Meeting Proposals were not present during this month’s meeting.

The board did grant a student’s early graduation request, as well as equipment purchase, a new Bobcat tractor that will be used to clear snow. Supt. Matt Genger presented information on the new tractor and the board passed the motion with all members voting aye.

Supt. Genger then gave his report to the board.

The regular board meeting is set for Wednesday, February 10, at 7:00 PM in the workroom of the Malta High School.
