Phillips County Healthcare Foundation continues to give to PC Health Facilities

As with many of our local organizations, the Phillips County Healthcare Foundation faced fundraising challenges this past year, but they still found a way to continue to provide much needed donations to both the Hi-Line Retirement Center and the Phillips County Hospital and Health Clinic.

Duane Murray, CEO of Hi-Line Retirement Center, expressed his gratitude to the Foundation and to those individuals, organizations and families who invest in the health of our county through their bequests. In 2020, the PC Healthcare Foundation provided over $21,000 in equipment and maintenance funds, which allowed for the purchase of a new commercial range and repairs to the walk-in freezer in the kitchen. In addition, it allowed for improvements to the resident's daily lives in the form of new furniture and a new chair lift for bathing.

Shannon Clark Fried, CLS ASCP, Technical Supervisor at the Phillips County Hospital and Health Clinic, couldn't say enough good things about the VITROS XT 3400 Chemistry System. Amongst the most impressive of its capabilities is the reduction in testing times and the vastly improved quality control, as well as having newer software and a different light system that provides more stability for tests than the last analyzer. This greatly reduces the amount of time that lab staff needed to troubleshoot issues in the past. The improved software also allows the company itself, OrthoClinical Diagnostics, to monitor alerts and contact the staff directly to let them know what issues they may be facing.

"Donny Bagley came to us from the PC Hospital and Clinic and made a very convincing presentation about how necessary the chemical analyzer is, how often it gets used, and how much the purchase would improve patient care at the facility, and so we have to give thanks to him for getting that started," said PC Healthcare Foundation President, Craig French. "And the last donations for the Hi-Line Retirement Center's kitchen obviously will be beneficial to the residents for a long time to come. We are happy to do what we can to continue to improve the already wonderful quality of care that these organizations provide."
