One Nation, Under God

Squat til ya ....

Sometimes you can parallel life to lifting weights.

Of course, when everyone is watching you just beat your old one rep max, you naturally want to add more weight.

Despite the happenings around the world, my little coffee business was doing better than last year, growing; pushing me to the brink.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I learned that my long time boss was moving and he asked me how I felt about it. Mark is like a brother to me, so I am bummed that he is gone. Eventually I was approached by corporate to become publisher of the PCN. I happily said yes! Throw another plate on the bar!

The last few weeks have been awesome. I am learning to use new muscles that I didn’t know existed but I was thankful for those that have encouraged me during this time.

I intend to continue to publish a paper that our community and county can be proud of. I am not Mark Hebert or Curtis Starr. But the PCN staff and I will try our best to keep Phillips County informed and continue to record its great history.

I am a Chicagoan by birth, but I have grown to love the small town life in my eight years of living here. This county is like the small guy in the gym. Sometimes the small guy is the strongest in the room.

It has been a long time since I have written in this column space, but as I enter into a new groove, I hope to continue to share my experiences with you.
