Dr. John Brennan died at his home 12 miles south of Malta, leaving a widow and son. Dr. Brennan for a time assisted Dr. G. W. Clay with local patients.

George Chambers represented the Malta Oddfellows at the Grand Lodge meeting in Havre.

W. J. Tressler left for the western part of the sate on a big game hunting trip.

Water was stuck in a well being drilled at the J. D. Millian farm at a depth of 340 feet.

The Malta Enterprise was boosting for better farm to market roads.

The Crescent Dry Goods company was holding a big closing out sale.

H. M. Kirton, Malta attorney, was a candidate for state senator on the republican ticket.

November 1, 1945

Funeral rites for Mrs. Ulrich held on Monday

Last rites for Mrs. Henry J. Ulrich, one of the pioneer residents of the Phillips County community and resident of Malta for the past four years, were held at the Malta Lutheran Church in Monday afternoon.

Born at Milan, Mo., April 16, 1888, Mrs. Ulrich spent her girlhood there, later going to Carrington, N. Dak., to make her home with a sister. She was married to Mr. Ulrich on May 6, 1907, and in the fall of 1913 they came to Montana and homesteaded in the Phillips County community.

Shoe rationing ends

Shoe rationing ended at midnight, October 30, according to an announcement from the Office of Price Administration. In addition, it was stated, production of the most essential types of shoes has been increased substantially.

Coyotes host playoffs Saturday

The Dodson Coyote football team has been paced this season by seniors Bill Henry, Randy Pancake, Butch Flemming, Loren Johnson, and Ron Sjostrom. These five seniors will the Coyotes' undefeated District 6C champions into the Northern Divisional playoffs against unbeaten Stanford on Sunday when the team will be out to avenge a 88-0 loss by Joplin to Stanford in the last contest between the two districts.

Mustangs took second place with 40-12 win over 'Beeters

The Malta Mustangs defeated the Chinook Sugerbeeters 40-12 on the home field last Wednesday evening to nail the lid on second place in the conference and finish with a 7-1 record.

Touchdowns for Malta in the win were scored by Rick Mans (3), Duane Walker (2), Mike Kaufman, and Randy Frazier.

City looking for winter ice skating rink

Possible sites for a City skating rink this winter were discussed at the Malta City Council meeting, but no sites were found suitable. The site of last year's skating rink in the Sunnyslope addition is now underneath a new home.

Jim Bebee: No, I definitely don't. It's been the same with wheat, but that is getting better.

All-State musicians

Three Malta High School were selected to participate in the All-State Band, Choir, and Orchestra in Missoula and they are Drew Nagy, Kelton Foster, and Alex Porter.
