One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for October 14, 2020

10-7. Sympathy to all who are victims of the COVID-19 virus.

Sympathy to George Taylor, of Whitewater, on the loss of his father, George Taylor Sr.

Get well soon to Guy Simanton of Whitewater, also. Get well to all who are sick.

Congratulations again to all volleyball and cross-country runners including Samantha Wisher. Sorry I missed your name last week. Good luck to all.

Shout out to my sister Janet Brown and family, who I visited last week.

Jeanne Green and I went to Billings. We met my sister Janet and her daughter Carol, and we had a nice visit. Later, we met Melanie, Jeanne‘s daughter, and her family including Maya and new baby! We had dinner and did some secondhand shopping at Goodwill. Most people are still wearing masks and some stores are closed. We had a short but fun visit.

Note: We saw some deer, including a doe with twin babies. So, drivers and hunters beware, there are deer on the road, and please do not shoot the fawns.

The wind blew clear from Billings back home to Whitewater. However, today is quiet, with no winds and very nice out.

Well, it is October 2020, and it has been a hard time for all. Let’s hope 2021 is better.

Happy birthday and happy anniversary to all October people celebrating.

Daylight savings time is in October. Remember its spring forward and fall back. I wish they would just leave it one way or the other.

10-14. President Trump in the First Lady have the virus! We should all take precautions against this virus.

Notice: The Phillips County Health Department will give influenza shots in Whitewater on October 22. They will be at the Whitewater School for students and staff from 8 a.m. to noon. Then they will be at the North 40 Cafe for the public. These shots are not for COVID-19, they are for the regular flu.

The season for weaning calves and shipping them is here.

Sally Austin and crew worked cattle on Saturday.

Again, welcome to Whitewater to the Hoffman family and also Mike Frietag and guests of the Wishers. The Hoffmans live at the youth ranch houses and Jamie helps cook at the North 40.

A shout out to all teachers since the past week was National Teachers Week.

Halloween is fast approaching but it is not a favorite holiday of mine. If children go trick-or-treating, please be cautious of the C19 virus and all of the treats they receive.

Jeanne Green went to grandchildren’s ball games in Havre and Chinook last weekend.

My daughter Gail Young was here to visit me on Friday and we had a nice time.

I talked to Teresa, my daughter in Swift Current, and she said the coronavirus is not near as bad as it was there.

Well, back in Whitewater, the weather today is beautiful. There’s no wind for a change and it is clear out. However, the leaves on some of the trees are turning gold. I hate to think of fall and even winter.

Thanks to our cross country in 4-H Club for the nice pumpkin decoration. Very nice.

Everyone, enjoy these nice sunny days.

Helen A.
