One Nation, Under God
Dear Editor.
If you get a chance, you should tour the County dump station that's south of Saco. This is about the most wanton disregard of the regulations that the county would like to have observed at these dump sites. Like different sites, we have a burn pit for people to deposit wood products, tree limbs and yard cleanup sacks into for burning. I was out there just this morning, 9-30-2020, and I see, mattresses, Metal water tanks, not little ones, but giant size plus many blocks of cement and lots of barbed wire. Do people really think that is the right place to put these items? They do have a tire pile for putting used tires in as they have to go separately to the landfill. I do see some that are thrown into the dumpster or put in the burn pit. I have rescued a few car batteries from the burn pit and hauled them to the Saco Dehy to be disposed of properly. I think many of us are waiting for the dumps to be closed and only open perhaps one or two days a week or half days because of the misuse. One of our county employees is leaving and I'm sure that the grief that they get there contributed to his decision.Come on people, we can do better than this if you insist on cleaning up 50 years of accumulation around your property, at least apply some reasonable sense to where you deposit them.
